Our Story

a taste of home

siggi’s begins in 2004 when Siggi Hilmarsson felt homesick for a staple of his childhood diet, skyr, a thick, creamy, high-protein yoghurt from his native Iceland. The yoghurts he found on shelves in the US were much too sweet and artificial for his liking.

Using a recipe Siggi's mother sent, he began making skyr in his small New York City kitchen. It tasted like home.

Within just a few months, Siggi quit his day job, bought a whole lot of dairy equipment, and siggi’s dairy was born.
